3rd April 2010: Countdown to Tolkien Seminar

Tolkien Seminar Jena 2010 The countdown to the 2010 Tolkien Seminar is running. For those who haven't yet made up their minds: This three day event (Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th April) features an inspiring line-up of speakers on Tolkien and Romanticism. Detailed information is available from the event website (external link).

The Tolkien Seminar is supported by the Walking Tree Publishers, who will also be present with their sales stand. Besides buying our books, this is a great opportunity to meet us and browse our latest publications.

9th March 2010: Tolkien Seminar website online

Tolkien and Romanticism poster Jena 2010The Tolkien Seminar (to be held in Jena on 23-25 April) now has its own website: seminar2010.kolbitar.de (available in both English and German).

The seminar poster (left) was designed by Anke Eißmann. Building on the theme of Romanticism, the poster echoes a painting by the German Romantic artist, Caspar David Friedrich, "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" (1817/18).

14th January 2010: Tolkien Seminar 2010 Programme

Jena The German Tolkien Society (Deutsche Tolkien Gesellschaft) have published the programme for their 2010 Tolkien Seminar. The conference will study the topic "Tolkien and Romanticism", and be held at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität, Jena (Germany) from 23rd to 25th April. The event is supported by Walking Tree Publishers.

This collection of 14 papers looks at different aspects of song and music in (and inspired by) Middle-earth. The 311 page volume was edited by Heidi Steimel and Friedhelm Schneidewind.

23rd December 2009: Beowulf and the Dragon now available
